Over the past few years, players and parents everywhere have shared with us just how much Epics mean to them in the world of Prodigy.

All your heartwarming stories of fun friendships and powerful adventures really got us thinking — What if we made this school year extra epic for our Prodigy wizards?

The why and how of an epic comeback

Previously, Epics were Prodigy toys for kids to collect in the real world. Each toy included a digital Epic code players could use to access the in-game characters they represented.

Prodigy Epics were discontinued in 2019. But all the love our players had for them didn't go unnoticed. And while we couldn't bring the physical toys back, we decided to bring Epics back virtually — for players to access wherever they are!

Instead of purchasing the toys themselves, all players with Premium Memberships (including group memberships) can unlock a powerful Epic of their choice. This Epic will become part of the player's Pet team and join them on their Prodigy adventures.

After becoming a member, players will receive in-game mail with a special Prodigy egg that, when opened, offers three different Epics to choose from.

Remember: this opportunity only comes around once — so choose your Epic carefully!

What are Prodigy Epics?

Epics are extra-powerful, extra-special Prodigy pets. With an Epic by their side, players can access secret adventures, new spells and exclusive rewards.

Prodigy has nine Epics in total. Each one belongs to its own zone on the Prodigy map, offering unique spells and abilities to help players make the most of their math learning adventure.

Players can use their Epics to:

Access and visit the Epics Arena
Cast Epic spells and use Epic Attacks
Gain more power and get exclusive in-game rewards

These exciting features can motivate players to:

Spend more time in Prodigy Math Game
Answer more skill-building math questions and get bonus math practice
Quickly build the curriculum-aligned math skills required to succeed in their grade level

Prodigy Epics list

1. Chill & Char

Element: Water

Chill & Char are best friends, not just because they share a body, but because their abilities compliment each other so well.

2. Eclipse

Element: Storm

On dark nights, Eclipse will soar through the sky, leaving a trail of shadow to linger over the land.

3. Tidus

Dragon

Element: Water

Tidus can create massive waves by flapping its powerful wings below water.

4. Luma

Dragon

Element: Fire

On sunny days, Luma can perform amazing feats of magic. For this reason, Luma tends to follow the sun high above the clouds.

5. Magmischief

Element: Fire

While traveling underground, Magmischief can sense movement on the surface — and knows exactly where to appear to get the biggest scare out of those who enter Bonfire Spire.

6. Arctursus

Element: Ice

The air around Arctursus is always cold, because the tips of its fur are made from an ice that can never melt.

7. Florafox

Element: Plant

Florafox can speak with nearby plants and trees by planting itself in the soil. The bulb on Florafox's tail produces a pollen that can heal any plant, no matter how injured or withered.

8. Diveodile

Element: Water

Diveodile's natural magic ability is boosted by the Warden pendant it wears, allowing it to cast strong water spells to generate water, or even control the water around itself!

9. Big Hex

Element: Storm

It comes from an unknown place with an unknown name. But it goes by Big Hex for the large bolts that seem to hold it together.

How to get an Epic in Prodigy

Every Premium Member — new or existing — gets one-time exclusive access to a Prodigy egg that contains an Epic.

Follow these three steps to access and unlock yours. No digital code needed!

Step 1: Choose your Premium Membership package

If you're already a Premium Member, hooray! Skip to step three.

Premium Memberships don't change the educational experience for players. Instead, they provide extra in-game content and rewards (like Epics), plus members-only tools to help parents support their child's learning.

And it's worth it, because players are more likely to answer additional math questions and spend extra time building important skills to help them succeed academically.

Prodigy offers two Premium Membership packages. Choose the one that fits your needs best!

1. Prodigy Level Up

From just $6.25 USD per month, this package offers in-game features like:

Access to Epics and the Epics Arena
Exclusive items, gear and in-game areas
Ability to rescue and evolve all 100+ Prodigy pets

While parents access tools like:

Goals and Rewards — Outline the number of math questions you want your child to answer, then send them a randomized in-game prize for reaching it.
Cheer Them On — Send encouraging messages to your child while they play Prodigy.
Comparison Insights — Find out how your child is performing alongside their peers.
Grade Override — Have the freedom to adjust the difficulty of the math questions your child answers.

2. Prodigy Ultimate

This complete package offers everything Level Up does, plus more!

Starting at $8.33 USD per month, Prodigy Ultimate offers extra tools to boost fun and learning:

Players unlock an Ultimate Member Box, featuring one exclusive Ultimate item and one exclusive Ultimate pet per season.

And as a parent, you'll be able to set more challenging Goals for your child, then choose from over 40 exclusive in-game Rewards. This way, your child gets the exact prize they want to celebrate their learning accomplishments.

Step 2: Parents — purchase your membership

First, sign up for a Prodigy parent account and make sure your child's account is attached to yours.

Visit the Premium Memberships page or log into your parent account and click on the Memberships button in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.

Click on the Purchase a Membership button, then select the package you've chosen above.

Choose how long you want your membership to last and select the child or children you want to apply your membership to. Then make your purchase!

Step 3: Players — Check your in-game mail to access your Epic

Once you have a Premium Membership, each player will receive a special piece of mail. Access in-game mail through the toolbar on the bottom of your screen.

You'll find a special mail message with an egg for you to open. Open the egg for your three Epics to appear. Select the Epic of your choice, then add them to your team from the Pet Book.

How to use your Epic in Prodigy Math Game

Once players collect their Epics, they'll be able to use all the power their Epic carries when they battle monsters in the game.

Epics Subspace

Epics live in a specific zone called the Epics Subspace. As soon as players enter it, they'll be prompted by a certain character to move forward. This character changes based on whether you own the Epic for that zone or not.

Epics Arena

From the Epics Subspace, players can select one of the Epics icons. If you own the Epic, you'll see Macha waiting to send you to the Epics Arena.

To access the Epics Arena, select the appropriate teleporter for the Epic you chose from the egg.

From there, you'll have the chance to complete new challenges and fight foes and earn rare items based on your Epic!

Epic Attacks

On the battle menu, players with an Epic have the option to use their ultimate spell: the Epic Attack. An Epic Attack is a once-per-battle attack to succeed against monsters in a normal battle, or a challenge battle.

When you select your Epic Attack and answer the math question correctly, the Epic will come on screen, unleash their Epic Attack and leave. The character who was on the screen at the time of the attack will receive it.

Prodigy Epics — Frequently asked questions

1. Can my child still keep their Epic if I cancel my Premium Membership?

Yes! Once you're an Epic owner, your Epic remains in use in the game regardless of your membership status.

2. Do Epics change the educational experience?

Having an Epic does not provide an educational advantage for students, beyond potentially making Prodigy Math Game more fun and engaging, leading to more math questions answered!

There is also no direct competitive advantage in the game. Epics attacks are not permitted in 1:1 battles with other players in the game, though they can still be used against non-playable characters.

3. If my child owns a physical Epic, do they need a Premium Membership to use it now?

No! If you already purchased an Epic before their discontinuation, you can always use them in the game.

4. Can I buy Prodigy Epics separately?

Currently, no. This Epics offer is only available to Premium Members.
